Sponsored a 16 week treatment program for teenagers who have been sexually abused in affiliation with Concordia Centre, a children’s mental health agency in North Bay, now called HANDS.

Healthy Beginnings Pamphlet Created. Distributed to doctor’s offices, the hospital prenatal and anti natal clinic, Mother care, Early Years, daycare centers, CAS etc. This pamphlet is continually being updated and revised.

Child Sexual Assault Investigator Training – Full Day Workshop on Child Forensic Interviewing – presenters included Meredith Kirkland-Burke Forensic Interviewer SCAN team SickKids, Darlene Laferriere Registered Speech Language Pathologist, and Paul Larsh Assistant Crown Attorney. This training was delivered to approximately 100 officers and child protection workers from Nipissing Area and Greater Sudbury Police Service. This training was entirely sponsored by the CAPC.
2012
Five police services from North East Region embarked on a training program to improve their officers’ skills in interviewing child victim and witness. This training program included two didactic sessions, followed by practical components in which the child’s video interview was reviewed by the Forensic Interviewer of Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) Team of SickKids Hospital. The CAPC was the catalyst for this training and sponsored all expenses for this training.
2013
Started inquiring and steps towards developing a Child Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC). This led to hosting and subsidizing BOOST CYAC in 2016 to a community round-table of stakeholders to support and facilitate developing a CYAC. In September 2017 the Department of Justice Canada provided a $130,000.00 grant for the development of a CYAC for the District of Nipissing and Parry Sound. – 11Mar2019 CYAC of Nipissing opened its doors!
2016
Sponsored a multi-disciplinary Peer Review site at the North Bay Police Service. The Peer Review occurred with Midwest Regional Child Advocacy Centre out of the United States as no Canadian Group is of existence. The reviews occurred monthly via-teleconference with invitation to the CAS, Crown, SANE team and neighboring police services.
